September 10-13, 2010 New York, New York
The US Open that more than 650,000 fans will enjoy this year at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center bears, in many ways, little resemblance to the tournament started 127 years
ago. It has evolved from an exclusive high society men’s singles and doubles tournament in 1881 to a two-week sports and entertainment extravaganza with $17 million in prize money, along the way changing its name from the U.S Championships to the US Open and its location from Rhode Island to Pennsylvania to its current home in Flushing, N.Y. It is chronologically the fourth and final event of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments. Join us this September and watch the drama as Juan Martin Del Potro tries to defend his tit le, enjoy everything from mojitos and steaks for lunch, and spend your nights in one of New York’s most stylish hotels.

Where we sleep...
The W New York - Times Square
Times Square finally goes hip on a grand scale with the opening of this super-sleek 57-floor monolith, the flagship of the white-hot W line. After passing through an entrance of cascading, glass-enclosed water, you alight to the seventh-floor lobby where Michael Kors-clad “welcome ambassadors” await. The Jetsons experience continues in the space-age, white-on-white
lobby and the futuristic rooms with multiple shades of gray. The
bi-level Blue Fin restaurant with its sushi bar and floor-to-ceiling
windows caps the architectural wonderment.
Where we PLAY...
The main court is located at the 24,000-seat Arthur Ashe Stadium, named after Arthur Ashe, the African American tennis player who won the inaugural men’s final of the US Open in 1968. Court Number 2 is Louis Armstrong Stadium, which stood as the main stadium until the completion of Ashe stadium. Court Number 3 is the Grandstand Stadium, which is
attached to the Louis Armstrong Stadium. All of the courts used by the US Open are lit, and in 2005, the courts were given blue inner courts and green outer courts to make it easier to see the ball. The DecoTurf surface is a fast surface, having slightly less friction and producing a lower bounce compared to other hard courts.
